Initial Projects for 2026
My initial projects to start the year are:
1) Move fused glass and ceramic studio work indoors
I’ve been working in my barn for the “dirty” creative work in my life - glass, stones, wood, ceramics. Stuff that would thrash a house and needs some ventilation for the kilns. But that means I’m limited by weather. So instead, I’ve started re-working the space on our property to use the barn more for storage, allowing better working space inside the house. This should allow me to work on glass and ceramic projects all year.
I’m using the unfinished space in our utility room to set up the ability to assemble fused glass works and hand-build ceramic pieces. That still will leave the kilns in the barn, as well as stone and wood working, but will let me build up projects to be fired when the weather allows. If this goes well, I’ll build up a stash of to-be-fired projects for the spring.
2) Roblox Game programming
My most recent batch of tech contracts is complete, which gives me free time for other projects, but also puts me in danger of getting rusty on my coding skills. So why not learn something new, and maybe something that I’ll have fun with? I’m playing around with coding in Roblox, which is an imperfect platform, but it comes fully baked with a lot of functionality baked in and with an existing audience. I’m not sure how far this project will go, but is something to keep my brain working between other gigs.
3) Painting
I’ve gotten out of the habit of working on painting during the holidays, but I’m hoping to pick it back up in the near future.
