Crafts, Cards, and Conversations

3rd Saturday of Each month. 1 PM - ??

We want to spend more time with the people in our lives, doing more creative things and spending time together.

So we are inviting those who know us to regular gatherings at our home, on the 3rd Saturday of every month.

Come on by starting at 1 PM for crafting - we’ll probably have some informal plan for the day, but this is more of an open shared studio time together than anything else. Feel free to bring arts and craft supplies or projects you are working on. Or come start something new, learn something new from others, or teach something new.

We’ll have a potluck dinner in the late afternoon, and everyone can continue to hang around for the evening playing cards or just hanging out.

All of our friends and family are welcome for as much or as little of the day as you would like. If you live a bit farther away, we’re 10 minutes outside of the Dells, so there are things to do around here to make the road trip a little more worth the effort.

  • This is an open invitation to anyone who knows us. As we’re just starting this, we don’t know who will end up coming. We have teenagers who may be here with friends, we have family of all ages who may come by.

Basically, we’re open to all kinds of people, so if you are likewise friendly to all, you are invited.

  • Loretta does all the fibery things - sewing, quilting, sock knitting, weaving, etc. She has a huge studio space for all these things

Dave does things with glass, stone, ceramics, and wood. He has a little space in the house for glass work, and a big space in the barn for everything else when the weather is decent.

Everybody draws and paints, and we will find space for such things.

  • Phase 10, with our special house rules. This one is a given at almost every gathering - our version plays faster than the standard rules.

We also play Five Crowns often, and sometimes Quiddler. Euchre and Fluxx are known to happen. Exploding Kittens, sure, sometimes. Sometimes Uno. I keep wanting to get a Hearts game going. Most of us can play Cribbage.

We’re open to new games if you have some to bring. We do tend to prefer card games over board games. We’re in the camp that likes a quick learning curve to new games.

  • That is fine, too. Dave, in particular, is just as happy to sit around and talk, go for walks through the woods, go swimming when it is warm enough, or whatever.

  • We’re going for a “potluck” concept for both the arts and crafts as well as dinner. Feel free to bring anything that can be shared with the group for either category.

At the same time, no need to feel obligated to bring anything. There should be enough of all things to go around, and if we end up short on anything, we’ll hit the store.

  • Loretta needs food that is both gluten-free and dairy-free. If you want to bring something that fits those needs, she’d appreciate it.

If you bring other stuff, everyone else can share it, but we’ll need to separate it from Loretta’s kitchen and she’ll be a little sad. (Even if the rest of us think it is delicious. Especially if the rest of us think it is delicious.)

  • If you know us, but have never been to our house, just email/text/call and ask. We’re happy to let you know, but don’t want to post our address on a public web page.
